What it does
Preserves and adds a sour taste (vinegar).
What it is made from
Made by fermenting alcohol from grain, grapes, apples or sugar cane, or synthetically.
Allergies and diets
- Gluten? Can be made from wheat or another gluten cereal (the source is not always named).
Distilled vinegar is considered gluten-free. Malt vinegar is made from barley and is not (the label must say "barley" or "malt").
